Support Groups
Support groups are voluntary groups who share a common problem, condition or life situation. Members find a unique understanding and guidance that comes from others who have experienced the same problem. Participants provide one another with emotional support and share information about effective ways to cope with their mutual problems. Although drawn together by a shared problem, they learn that by helping one another, they help themselves. Groups not only support individuals who have specific concerns, but quite often assist family members and significant others who are seeking support and education.
Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri is the official clearinghouse for support groups in the metropolitan area. For more information, please call 314-773-1399.
